Siemens Medical Solutions
Bappa Choudhury is the newly appointed Vice President of Business Development for Siemens Medical Solutions USA. In this capacity, Choudhury is responsible for analyzing, developing and implementing new cross-functional healthcare solutions. His first area of focus is in the expanded role Siemens can play in the U.S. Surgery Market. Choudhury took over this responsibility after spending two years as Vice President of Strategic Segment Management and four years heading up the Computed Tomography (CT) group of Siemens in the U.S.
During his tenure as vice president of the CT Division, Choudhury led a 40 percent growth of annual CT sales since 2002 while introducing at least six new major CT products including the SOMATOM Sensation® and the SOMATOM Emotion product lines. These achievements helped him to earn Division Manager of the Year honors in 2002. Before assuming the role of vice president, Choudhury held several positions at Siemens all with increasing responsibility, including Service engineer, X-ray Division Product Manager, Service Marketing Manager where he pioneered the marketing of service and service contracts under the “Siemens UpTime Services” brand, and Medical Sales as a Full-line Account Executive in New York City.
Choudhury then traveled abroad on a three-year foreign delegation to Germany as a CT Marketing Manager, where he conceived the CT Customer Relationship Management Program named WorldCare (now called Life). Choudhury returned to the US in 2001 and took over the CT Division.
Describing himself as a manager with a creative vision that constantly drives him and those around him to explore new challenges and heights, Choudhury appreciates contributing to fast-developing, cutting-edge technology – knowing that it helps improve the practice of healthcare and the lives of people throughout the world. He also values working for an organization that first and foremost listens to its customers.
Choudhury, who was born in India and grew up in various parts of Africa and England, holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
